Revaluation of my pension

Your pension from the general scheme is usually revalued once a year. This revaluation is carried out on the January pension.

Revaluation is not systematic. Some years, the amount of your pension, as well as that of your solidarity allowance for the elderly (ASPA - Allocation de Solidarité aux Personnes Agées), may remain the same.

To learn more about ASPA, visit the “Improve My Income” page.

Payment of my pension abroad

You can receive your personal pension and your survivor’s pension abroad.

To learn more about your procedures and your retirement life, see our section “Living abroad”.

Payment of my pension to a third party

Your pension is paid into your personal bank account, in your first and last names. However, we may pay your pension to a third party:

  • if you are hospitalised, your pensions may be paid to hospitals and social security funds, up to a limit of 90%, to cover your hospitalisation costs. The remaining amounts are paid to you;
  • if you are receiving personalised social support, you can authorise your host institution to receive your pensions on your behalf. This payment procedure is authorised by the Departmental Council (Conseil Départemental).

Mandatory payments out of my pension

Your pension is subject to deductions by creditors under the same conditions and up to the same limits for employment income. Your entire income cannot be deducted. A minimum amount, equal to the earned income supplement (RSA), must be left to you.

Note

Deductions for child maintenance payments are not covered by this rule.

If deductions are being made from your bank account, ask your regional fund for a certificate stating the portion of your pension which cannot be taken. You will need to present this to your bank within 15 days to keep the minimum portion of your pension.

The third-party supplement cannot be deducted from, except in favour of the person with the third-party capacity.
